What mechanisms and frameworks should we use to prepare for the future? How should these innovations materialize in markets around the globe? What safe and ethical practices could government and business leaders follow when integrating AI into their operations?

About the Club
Understanding how policy shapes business and community
The Business and Policy Forum helps students explore how government decisions shape the
economy and the world of business. The club focuses on real-world challenges and
opportunities—especially those faced by small and local businesses—while building
meaningful connections between classroom learning and community impact.
By examining how policies such as taxation, tariffs, labor laws, and regulations affect
businesses, students gain a clearer understanding of how economic decisions influence
industries and communities.
Whether interested in business, law, government, or public service, members develop
practical skills and insights that prepare them for real-world leadership and informed
decision-making.

Mona Roy
Lexington School Committee Member
Read Bio
Mona Roy is an attorney, community leader, and member of the Lexington School Committee with a background in biomedical engineering and intellectual property law.
A longtime civic advocate, she has served in leadership roles including Chair of Lexington’s Human Rights Committee and Vice Chair of the Lex250 Commission, while working on initiatives related to education equity, and inclusive curriculum policy. Roy has been active in the Lexington community for more than 25 years and is known for her collaborative approach to public service and education governance.

Doug Lucente
CEO of PROMEDICAL and Member of Lexington Select Board

Doug Lucente is a business executive, attorney, and local policymaker whose career sits at the intersection of business and government. He is the CEO of PROMEDICAL, a healthcare revenue cycle management company, and brings experience in healthcare finance, law, commercial property ownership, and business leadership.
In addition, Lucente has spent decades serving the public in Lexington. He served as a Town Meeting member and has been on the Lexington Select Board since he was first elected in 2017.
His work in local government has focused on many of the issues where business and public policy overlap, including fiscal responsibility, economic development, housing, government, and transparency.

Sandhya Iyer is the Executive Director of TiE Boston, where she works to strengthen New England’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by connecting founders with mentors, investors, business leaders, and other resources that help companies grow.
Before joining TiE Boston, Iyer worked in local government as an Economic Development Director, where she led efforts to support small businesses, attract commercial investment, strengthen business districts, promote tourism, and build partnerships among government, businesses, property owners, and regional organizations. She is also the founder of the Economic Development Academy, created in partnership with UMass Lowell and MassEcon to help train the next generation of economic development professionals.
Through her experience across government, entrepreneurship, nonprofit leadership, and economic development, Iyer brings a perspective on how different sectors can work together to create opportunity, strengthen communities, and support entrepreneurs.
